In NLDelta, the last 600 years have all been about co-existence with water. It is a story which is quintessentially Dutch. A story of living under sea level, of protection against water and of harnessing water to the fullest. This centuries-old co-existence with water has made an indelible mark on the landscape.
One with water
NLDelta tells the story of life under sea level, protection against water, and the harnessing of water to the fullest. Towns and villages are connected by the rivers Rhine and Meuse.
Nature of the Dutch Delta
NLDelta consists of a joined-up system of flourishing nature reserves. The water-rich ‘jungle’ of the Biesbosch is a unique freshwater-tidal zone, with a network of creeks, islands and morasses.
